Shami’s Stats

He was not part of the team even during the recent Asia Cup. Shami last played for India during the National T20 World Cup in 2021. During that tournament, Shami’s performance was constantly questioned. Shami did a great job in IPL 2022, and while he was in charge of the new ball for the new team, the Gujarat Titans, he kept getting wickets for his team, which helped them win the championship.

He played 16 matches, bowled at an economy of 8, and took 20 wickets. He also won the IPL trophy this season in Gujarat.
Since then, the fans have been demanding to have him back in the Indian T20 team.  But after being out of the team against Australia, it has to be seen how soon they get fit and return,. The 32-year-old Shami is currently not in Mohali with the team. Shami was kept on the reserve list of the squad for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia.

With the announcement of Shami’s exit, the Indian team management has also announced his replacement, Umesh Yadav, as senior pacer. Umesh Yadav also did well in this year’s IPL Trophy.

He had bowled for the Night Riders with an economy of 7. He took 16 wickets in 12 matches, so this economy should be considered good.
Umesh is in Mohali. Umesh is playing with a team after 3 years. Umesh played for India for the last time in February 2019.
Umesh was recently part of the Royal London Cup in England, where he bowled brilliantly for Middlesex.
